about
Geologists have decided we’ve entered the Anthropocene, which is characterized as a geological epoch in which humankind is the biggest geological factor on the planet. Plastiglomerate is a song from our suite "Voyage to Anthropocene". Plastiglomerate is actually a new rock, recently named by Canadian geologist Prof. Patricia Corcoran of Canada’s Western University. It’s a fusion of plastic with coral and/or volcanic rock.
lyrics
PLASTIGLOMERATE
(words/music A. A. Handa, 2018)
with K. Podlacha on piano and additional vocals Lindsay McDonald and Jennifer Wakefield.
Welcome, Welcome, Come, make the scene
Welcome, Welcome
to Anthropocene
Welcome, Welcome, Come, make the scene
Welcome, Welcome
to Anthropocene
Uh, oh (Uh Oh), it’s in you (you)
Uh, oh (Uh Oh), it’s in me (me)
Uh, oh (Uh Oh), it’s in the creatures of the deep blue sea
Uh, oh It’s deep in my belly.
(chorus)
Plastiglomerate Make a brand new rock
Plastiglomerate Make a brand new rock, new rock
Plastiglomerate Make a brand new rock
Plastiglomerate Make a brand new rock, new rock
Plastic fantastic, Oh make a brand new rock, yeah.
Plastic fantastic, Make a new rock, new rock
Plastic make islands in the deep blue sea
Plastic break down into pieces we cannot see
Plastic fuse with coral and with rock
Plastiglomerate. Anthropocene rock.
(chorus)
We make so much plastic, we can shrink wrap the planet. We make so much plastic, we can shrink wrap planet earth.
Plastic fill the belly of the baby albatross
It dies of starvation, but its belly is full of plastic (its belly is full of plastic)
(chorus)
Five hundred years to break down down down
Five trillion pieces of plastic
floating around in the deep blue sea
(repeat and fade)
